Commission selects 30 great social innovation projects
After an impressive 1,408 entries from 40 European countries and much deliberation by our expert jury, we are excited to announce the 30 semi-finalists selected in this year’s European Social Innovation Competition.
We asked for ideas with the potential to create new models of growth through social innovation and that’s certainly what we got!
Amongst all the inventive entries we received, a flavour of what’s top of the agenda for many Europeans began to stand out. Europeans are innovating to ensure young people reach their potential and strengthen job prospects. Innovators are showing us they want to make sure we live in an inclusive society that cares for our ageing population. And certainly, the message is clear that creating economic growth with minimum waste and enhanced sustainability is vital.

To find out more about each idea, please keep checking here. We’ll be adding to this page in the coming weeks with more information about each semi-finalist.
All semi-finalists are invited to the social innovation mentoring academy at Magdas Hotel in Vienna 7-9 September to progress their ideas with tailored support and workshop sessions.
Following the academy, 10 finalists will be selected, 3 of which will each be awarded a €50,000 prize at the awards ceremony in Brussels in November 2015.
