Applications are now open for the Masterclass within the 2026 Enescu Competition, scheduled to take place between 24 and 28 August 2026.

The Masterclass in Conducting, Instrumental Performance, Composition and Advanced Music Studies is an essential extension of the competition’s mission to support artistic development at the highest level.

Designed as a safe learning environment, the Masterclasses bring together young musicians and leading professionals for intensive work, direct feedback and real-stage experience in Bucharest.

Three distinct directions shape this year’s sessions:

• Conducting Masterclass

A rare opportunity to work closely with Maestro Cristian Măcelaru, focusing on understanding the scores, orchestral communication and rehearsal technique, in direct interaction with professional musicians.

• Instrumental Masterclasses

Advanced sessions dedicated to all instrumentists, offering participants the chance to refine interpretation, technique and stage presence under the guidance of Maestro Cristian Măcelaru.

• Composition Masterclass

For the first time, the George Enescu International Competition introduces a dedicated Composition Masterclass, offering participants the opportunity to work closely with members of the Enescu Composition Competition jury.

These sessions focus on refining each composer’s artistic voice, exploring creative processes and musical language, and developing scores in direct collaboration with performers. Participants will also rehearse their works with a professional ensemble, gaining essential insight into the transition from score to live performance.
